Arts

Lower School Arts

Both in visual and performing arts, Annie Wright offers imaginative outlets to encourage students to express their individuality and let their spirits soar. Students get inspired and gain in confidence by exploring new ideas, topics and cultures, and experimenting with a variety of creative media and techniques. Offerings include:

Music

Orchestra
Orchestra brings together students and faculty interested in performing orchestral music. We encourage musicians of all levels to participate. Even our youngest learners may participate with instruments sized especially for them. Students have a number of performance opportunities throughout the year, including winter and spring recitals, talent show and Christmas chapel services, and orchestra performances at school events.

Private Music Lessons
We offer private lessons for an additional fee to all interested students. Lessons are available in many instruments such as a variety of strings, piano, drums, guitar, and voice. Music recitals provide a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their musical and performing skills.

Chorus
Annie Wright students are invited to join the chorus. Performance opportunities exist in the weekly Chapel program, and many special occasions that occur throughout the school year.

Studio Art & Pottery

Student drawings and paintings, created either during the art curriculum or after-school programs, adorn Annie Wright hallways. In addition to studio art, students also experience ceramics in the pottery studio where they create many great treasures!

Drama

Each year Lower School students have the opportunity to audition for a Lower School production performed at the Kemper Centre. They may also participate in an All School play (production) in which they interact and share the stage with Middle and Upper School students. Some discover that being on stage is so much fun and they are compelled to audition for the All-Division Play in which they interact and share the stage with older students.
