Do It All at School

The Annie Wright experience begins in the classroom and continues far beyond, giving busy parents and students access to a range of activities and pursuits right at school. Our holistic approach extends student-centered programming to nurture creativity, physical health, risk-taking, competition, community engagement, collaborative problem solving and more. Add talented and caring faculty and Annie Wright's commitment to know and honor all of our students, and families can find a one-stop-shop for learning, growth and fun. Here are some examples:

Athletics

In addition to daily physical education classes focusing on fitness, skills and health, Annie Wright Schools offer a range of competitive teams and athletics opportunities for students beginning in Kindergarten. No need to spend your evenings driving to soccer practice!

Before & After School Programs

Annie Wright offers an Extended Day program for students from Preschool to Grade 8, before school starting at 7:00 am (at no charge) and after school until 6:00 pm. Flexible options provide students time to socialize, study or participate in age-appropriate activities, including specialty clubs. After-school activities for Upper School students provide deep-dives into areas of passion before sports practices begin each afternoon.

Late Start

The research is overwhelmingly clear that teenagers need more sleep and exercise. That's why we've adopted a later start for our Upper School students. While the school day starts at 8:00 am for Lower and Middle School students, our Upper Schoolers begin their day at 9:00 am.

Music Lessons

From Preschool, music is an essential part of the Annie Wright curriculum, from learning about history and theory to reading and playing a variety of genres. In addition to opportunities to participate in chorus, orchestra and band, students can take private music lessons in voice, a variety of strings, piano, drums and guitar during the school day.

Performance Opportunities

Every Annie Wright student has the opportunity to perform, whether reciting a poem in front of the class, appearing on stage in a talent show, or starring in a full-blown musical. These opportunities both during and after school nurture creativity and confidence.

Service

Community engagement is central to Annie Wright's mission and to IB programs from Preschool to Grade 12. In developmentally appropriate ways, students connect with local and global communities and engage service partnerships and leadership in the context of their curriculum and individual passions.

Swim

Annie Wright's new sparkling 25-yard high school regulation-sized pool, opened in 2020, provides year-round opportunities for beginner (every Lower Schooler learns how to swim!) to competitive swimmers.

Travel

We believe that some of the best learning experiences can happen outside of campus. While field trips happen at all grade levels, our students begin taking overnight trips in Grade 4, working their way up to overnight orientation and Journeys program in Middle School. At the Upper School level, students enjoy overnight retreats, trips and the opportunity to study abroad
